China - Day5 *Bailian Outlet*

23 Nov 2010

Finally, it's shopping day! The destination we chose was Bailian Outlet located at Qing Pu, about 2 hours from Shanghai City. From East Nanjing station, it needs 2 interchange to switch to Line 9. The station was Sheshan, which took about 1 and half hour. From Sheshan station, we took taxi to the outlet, about 15 minutes. Public bus is available, but that wasn't our choice.

I had done several surveys about this outlet before going, and most of the review said that this place was always fulled of people especially during weekend. But surprisingly, when we were there, the number of people was really too little until I felt so awkward to shop as the sales attendants kept eyeing on me. However, this outlet had many brands to choose, such as Burberry, Coach, Ferragamo, Esprit, Lacoste, Nike, Adidas etc, and many local brands were available too.

As seen in the pics below, really not much humans walking around... How pitiful!

Lunch at Tian Mi Mi, a nice one

We bought quite a lot here. No worry, we got 2 giant bags to carry them back to the hotel. I also bought a piece of cake from Starbucks before going back at 4pm. The place turned even more spooky when it was getting late, as humans were becoming lesser, and lesser....

Now, we encountered a horrible experience with the ILLEGAL DRIVER again. There were many taxis waiting at the entrance, but to our horror, they refused to send us to Sheshan Metro Station. This was rather ridiculous because as what we know, legal taxi driver in Shanghai wasn't allow to reject the location as requested by the passengers. Then, the illegal driver approached us, kept persuading us to get into their car. We were quite panic, as we got no choice since the taxi refused to let us on board. When we were just about to hire the illegal driver, he insisted that the fee was RMB30, which was too expensive. We negotiated with him, and he sounded rather harsh, giving us all sorts of excuses. Luckily, we tried to ask for another taxi, and the driver agreed to send us!!! This was really a super nightmare in China.

On the way to Sheshan, he explained to us that those so-called "LEGAL TAXI DRIVER" was not under the registered company too. No wonder they refused to send us, cos they were waiting for passengers who wanted to go straight down to Shanghai City, bigger fish. Why can't the government to something? This really horrified the tourists. Ahhhhhhhhhhhh....... CHINA!!!!!
