Japan - Day3 *Mount Fuji*

14 June 2010

After the Disneyland trip on the previous day, we overnight at Fuji Mihana Hotel, Hakone. It was late in the evening when we arrived, and the weather was kind of foggy and cold. This is really a nice and comfy hotel, whereby Mt Fuji was situated at the back, while Yamanakako Lake was right in front. The room was a typical Japanese bedroom, with comfy tatami, which guarantees u a good sleep. Most importantly, Fuji Lava Bath Spa was available in the hotel, both indoor and outdoor.

Things I bought from Disneyland & a small souvenir shop in Fuji Mihana Hotel

Early in the morning, we headed to the first spot, Mount Fuji, 3667m, which is the highest mountain in Japan. Too bad it was raining quite heavily. We managed to drive up to Level 5, however, the mountain wasn't able to be seen as it was too foggy. Of course, I felt very disappointed. So we visited a few more places nearby such as the shrine and souvenir shops.

Foggy.... Rainy......

A Shrine nearby

Souvenir Shops, we shopped anytime anywhere

There was always luck. While we were busy shopping in the store, suddenly we heard the crowd cheering loudly outside. We rushed out, and here it is... the long-waited Mt Fuji!!! Even she only appeared for less than 1 minute, it was enough to melt our heart. The happiness was too good to be true at that particular moment. I was too excited until I forgot to pull out my camera for a shot. And by the time I realised that, half of the mountain was gone again. Here, I would like to thank HW for sharing his pic with me :) His pic was a lot better than mine, even part of the mountain was also gone. Haha, we were simply overwhelmed....

Mt Fuji, finally I saw u ^_^

After this, we proceeded to Peace Park Garden. The rain seems to be getting heavier...

Our lunch today was at Lake Ashi. This lake was formed in the caldera of Mt Hakone after the eruption 3000 years ago. I really had to admit that the bloody weather was really obstructing me from viewing Mt Fuji, as she was not visible at all from Lake Ashi.

Lake Ashi, supposedly a perfect spot for viewing Mt Fuji.

Bloody Lunch - Not in the mood as I was dying to see Mt Fuji

After the lunch, I was really worried as the rain was pouring heavily now. Our next destination was Owakudani. This is an active volcanic zone where lots of hot spring with sulphuric gas could be seen. Despite the heavy rain and strong wind, we walked up the stone staircase insanely for about 10 minutes to reach a volcanic zone with steam vents and bubbling pools. After snapping the pics, we bought the black egg, at 100 yen each, where it was cooked naturally and the outer shell was blackened by the sulphur. The legend was saying that it could prolong one's life, ops!

See, it was 80 Degree Celsius

Sulphuric Gas, do not approach if u have asthma problem

Our Black Eggs... burp

That's all for Mt Fuji & Hakone. So I only managed to view her for 1 minute. Next, heading down the mountain to Kakegawa Station. We were taking the Shinkansen (Japan High-Speed Bullet Train) to Hamamatsu.

The dark clouds could still be seen

Musk Melon, the best melon ever. I was so busy eating while waiting for my ticket to be purchased.

Got our tickets

This direction please

Here it comes...

Fast & Furious

Nearer

Even closer

Feel the Speed!

I done another round of shopping at Hamamatsu before heading to Okura Act City Hotel. I really love this 45-storey hotel. Once u open the curtain in the room, u would definitely hold your breath when u see such a spectacular night view of beautiful Japan. The buffet dinner at the restaurant was nice too.

I managed to sweep another Burberry Blue Label for WC at Hamamatsu
