Great Singapore Sales - Day 2 & 3

Day 2 and 3
01 June - 02 June 2010

This morning, I wanted to search for my childhood long-lost taste - a simple breakfast at Chinatown (Gu Chia Zui). I used to travel a lot to SG when I was a kid, and normally I would have the meal at Chinatown. However, I lost the taste for almost 15 years, and this time I really wanted it back! So this is what I have, a very satisfying breakfast.

Zui Kueh (Rice cake with dried radish)

Teh Si, Oh Kueh & Cheong Fun

After that, we spent half of day shopping at Bugis, but it wasn't a fruitful one. So we decided to have a tea break at The Coffee Connoisseur, TCC, before we were heading back to Orchard Road to hunt for more shoes.

Mocha & Chocolate

High-Tea Set

Loitering @ Ion Orchard, took this pic while waiting for HY to screw his incapable staff.

Bakerzin Dessert... super sweet Macarons

Dinner at Ippudo

Japanese Lemon Chicken

Best Ramen!

Soft Cheese Cake

And we move on to Marina Bay Sands Casino

Nothing interesting as most of the shops are not open yet

We also went to Universal Studio & Resort World on the next day

Another small story about Gucci Paragon. As we spent another day doing our shopping at Orchard Road, so eventually we went into Gucci at Paragon again. I ended up buying a phone casing, yah, finally I found it. And I was wondering why I didn't spot it when I went there on the first day. Since this is Fall Winter 2010 new product, so there was no discount for it. HY also bought a passport holder.

Gucci phone casing & passport holder

We bought a total of 12 pairs of shoes. Another 4 pairs weren't come in shoe box.
And one more pair is my Chanel Camellia Boots

Great Singapore Sales - Day1

Day 1, 31 May 2010

I always wanted to experience the Singapore Sales, especially the grand one in June. This time, it's a perfect timing as HY is coming back via SG. So we decided to have 4 days 3 nights shopping spree over there :D

On 31 May, I reached SG around 11am. Since HY would only arrive in the evening, so I went down to shop alone in Orchard Road. It's really dangerous to shop alone, as no one is stopping u when your mind goes wild on certain things, and u will ended up grabbing all the unnecessary items. That's why, I always believe that woman is a dangerous species, but meant to be pampered!

First stop, ION Orchard. I was kind of disappointed with the shoes at Charles & Keith. Then, I went to Burberry, and the Short Nova Heart Rain Boot I was looking for was actually on sales!!! I was really excited and asked the SA to get me my size. As expected, SOLD OUT, so I got one full pail of cold water and being poured straight on my head. I was also checking for the phone case for my HTC, not much choice available. In the end, I left Burberry sadly...... In the end, I swept a pair of jeans & shoes from Guess.

Second stop, NGEE ANN CITY. Needless to say, first boutique I went in was of course Chanel. Just be there to check out the Fall Winter Collection, sort of loitering there until something caught my attention!!! Oh my God... that's the Camellia Boots (Fall Winter 09) which I've been searching for so long. It was displayed on the rack, so I took it down and have a glance. Now, this really stops my heartbeat, as it was my size!!!!!!!!!! 35!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I almost screamed my lungs out! I asked the SA to get me another side to try on. It is perfect, and I'm so much in love with it. That's it... she follows me home :)

Chanel Camellia Boots

Third stop, PARAGON. The sales in Gucci has just started today, but it doesn't seem to have much chemical effect in Paragon. I just walked one round, and moved on to Coach. I'm definitely not into Coach, just be there to see what's available for the current fashion trend. After another empty round in Burberry, I had my tea break at Coffee Bean. Then, I swept a few pairs of shoes from Metro.

Fourth stop, TAKASHIMAYA. Something interesting is going on here, it's about Gucci. Want to know how long is the queue on the first day of sales? Just try to experience it if u got the chance!!! At first, the queue really stops me from entering, so I went to Bottega Veneta next door instead. I wanted to check on the Nuvolato Veneta which I've bought recently, and of course it was sold out long long ago. After that, I went back to Gucci, cos I felt so heavy-hearted for not entering... hahaha! And I afraid I might miss out something inside. This time, I was hunting for shoes. The crowd was really crazy inside, and it took me almost an hour to try on 3 pairs of shoes. The most pathetic part is, they were all too lose for me, so I walked out empty-handed.

After a long-haul of the day, carrying so many pairs of shoes with me, I went back to Changi again for picking up HY. Very excited indeed :) We had our dinner at Somerset. Before heading back to hotel, I went to the Tourist Centre to claim the free taxi voucher. I got a total of $90 voucher, and 3 shopping tote for free... wow!

Chanel Coco Cocoon 2010

Today is a happy day, as I received such a valuable Chanel Coco Cocoon 2010 Brochure from my SA. The brochure is really unique, artistically illustrated by Karl Lagerfeld, featuring Vanessa Paradis. This latest series of Coco Cocoon is far beyond understated and desirable. Each beautiful product is distinctly identified by their discreet Chanel feel.... Makes me drool..... However, it is not in my wishlist, perhaps one day maybe?

Argg!! I want a pair of Rain Boots!!!

I'm living in a country without 4-season, so practically speaking I don't need a pair of boots. But I intend to get one, since I always travel & have my vacation during year end, which is winter. So let's see, what are the choices available?

1. Chanel Camellia Series

Chanel Camellia Boots
(Fall Winter 09)

This is released last year if not mistaken, fall winter I bet. So I don't think the boutique is still selling it, unless I get it from a reseller, which is something I will never do. But, I really love it... sad!

Chanel Camellia Boots (Fall Winter 10)

There's always sunshine after the rain. Chanel is going to launch the following series real soon, in June, as part of the Fall Winter '10 Collection. It is available in 4 colours: Black, Red, Blue & Green. So glad that my SA informs me about this greatest news ever. I will definitely try on it in SG or Japan if the stock is available. Else, I will just reserve it from my SA. Very excited, and can't wait to see it in real life!

P/s: Shhh.... I've actually made a reservation from my SA.... This beauty will arrive somewhere mid-June. Stay tune for the colour & more pics for sharing!

2. Burberry Short Nova Heart Rain Boot

Isn't she lovely? The heel is slightly shorter than Chanel, which is more comfy to walk I bet? This pair also has very high tendency to be sold out, as the US website only left Size 40. Such a big size...

3. Burberry Heeled Rain Boots

What about this? A very classic Burberry look, with a higher heel. Not bad really, but is the boot too long for me?!?!

4. Burberry Check Rain Boots

Another shade of Burberry, darker colour, which is easier to match with any outfits. Dirt-proof, water-proof, what else you want to consider?

5. Haymarket Check Rain Boot

Latest Rain Boots Series, just launched during the beginning of May. It has a sweet red edge colour trim. Comes in few colours such as brown, red and yellow.

6. Coach Pixy Rain Boots

Again, this is another pair of signature Coach product. I like the transparent rubber sole with the good matching of colour. Another good bargain, and this pair is actually the cheapest of all my short-listed items.

Bottega Veneta.... I got Her!

I was dying to get a Bottega Veneta, and was seriously in love with the Intrecciato Nappa Series. Firstly, I intended to get the classic style, either black or brown medium Veneta in mind. However, when I came across the Nuvolato Veneta in Spring Summer 2010 Collection, I totally lost my soul. As it is SS Collection, once it is sold out, there will be no more production. What more, it's already May by now. Most of the luxury brands are already in the midst of preparing for Fall Winter Collection.

I have 2 choices actually, to wait until I visit Singapore this month end, or Japan in mid-June. But I can foresee that, it is quite unlikely to get her anymore, as she is really a piece of hot cake. Just when I'm about to give up, I read from the Purse Forum that, a high-reputation website in US, BlueFly, has Bottega Veneta as one of their brand new designer products. And, I couldn't believe my eyes that they actually have the Nuvolato in stock, one and only one. After searching for a trustworthy freight-forwarding company, I finally placed my order on this bag.

So, this bag of mine, fly all the way to me in these routes, a tiring & exhausting 7-day trip:

Route No.1 to Freight-forwarding company:
Sharonville - Louisville - Orlando - Sarasota (Florida)

Route No.2 to me:
Florida - Ohio - Hong Kong - Singapore - Malaysia

***Bottega Veneta Medium Paille Intreccio Nuvolato
Spring Summer 2010 Collection
***

Simple explanation about her:

The entire body is made with tubular leather instead of flat "strips" like the tie dye. The new weave is very special & completely different to others in the collection. In this case, the weave works horizontally, adding a new fettuccia for each passage. This technique is like crochet chaining each stitch to the other. As the work evolves, it is knotted regularly to highlight the intreccio and create vertical lines. This job requires skilled craftsmen as it is highly complex.

Freshly released from the DHL box. Nice BlueFly paperbag & wrapping

Plentiful of Actions in my Study Room

The BlueFly Authenticity Tag is still hanging on her

In action

Golden Rules to Survive in My Company

I'm working in a famous private institution in my country. The first impression whenever people hear about my company is... "Wow...that's for the rich! Oooo... full of crappy psycho...."
So now, I'm going to share the golden rules of surviving in my company. It really needs certain expertise in order to live happily ever after.

Rules No.1: Predator

Be a powerful predator in the company. Hunts down the prey before u yourself become the victim without even knowing what's going on. You must fully equip yourself with sharp claws, poisonous fangs, stereoscopic vision, maximum sensitivity & skillful hunting tech-tics.

Rules No.2: Perform at the Correct Time

Only perform during the correct timing, for instance, when the boss realises your existence. Please talk as loud as possible if u have completed certain task, and let the whole world knows that u are the one who is doing it. Better still, on your speaker to full volume so that your boss can hear it too. Or, use a camcorder to tape down how well u can act, and show it to the boss. They love to see the staffs performing. If you are a quiet worker, u may kiss good-bye to the company.

Rules No.3: Miracle-Maker

Under all circumstances, especially when the matters are related to publicity, u are dimmed to be a miracle-maker. Change the impossible to possible, by all mean. To try your best is an inappropriate attitude, cos when u try your best, doesn't mean that the miracle will appear. Therefore, my company is Hogwarts School of Witchcraft & Wizardry, where many Harry PotterS and Hermione GrangerS are so busy casting their spells all around, or sprinkling the potion to make everything possible.

Rules No.4: Protective Shield

The first year is basically working in a graveyard. All you get is bullet, no matter u are wrong, or innocent. Swallow the bullet, or leave, the choice is in your hand. U should learn how to save your own ass under every circumstances, as no one is there to back you up. In fact, they will use the sharpest knife to back stab u until u bleed profusely. Shit-cleaning is a very common task. Being called into the boss's room is like having tea-break in Starbucks. However, if u can get through the first year, u may start to smile from the second year onwards. Just like me, successfully survive for 8 years!

Rules No.5: Make your Boss Loves You

Please figure out a way to make your boss loves u. You may use any approach u want, as there is no restriction in this. When u become the apple of his eyes, u can have a sleepless night. A stable position, and got promoted, with salary increment, and of course year end bonus! I think my ex-boss does love me!

Rules No. 6: Be a Commander

When u are carrying out your duty, u must learn to be as cruel as possible. Do as I say, as I'm the commander. Do not ever show your smiling face, and be extra strict in every words u use. This must be started from the very first minute when u carry out your duty, else u will definitely die miserably.

Rules No. 7: Be a Tai-Chi Master

A Tai-Chi Master, means that u only do the work that u are suppose to do. Other than this, it is none of your business, so u should mind your own business and go back home when the clock strikes 4pm. Be firm, or people will push all their responsibility to u, as in cleaning the shits. When people know that u are difficult to mingle with, they will soon get their hands off u. Learn to speak for yourself.

Do u wana join my company? I welcome u!

"Official" Lunch

This is the current hot-topic occurring in my office.

Imagine this scenario: It is a hot & sweaty outdoor activity for 5 hours, all standing under the scorching sun. At the end of the activity, all are having "sweet-scene" from the sweat, looking extremely hideous, with T-shirt & short pants, plus the sport shoes, and the sticky hair.

What would u do after the activity if u were in this situation? Go straight home to have a good bath, and get a good sleep of course. Will u bother to go for a lunch at an air-conditioned restaurant???

The following is the speech from the head of my office, after seeing that only 9 out of 120 staffs intended to attend the so-called lunch:

"I was so disappointed because there were only 9 of u who signed up for the buffet lunch. And the other department is even worse, only 1 of them signed up. Sometimes, u have to know what is official, and what is not. Since this is an OFFICIAL matter, so u all should put in the effort to make it, especially those who are still single. The boss was very unhappy with it, and were suspecting if u people were boycotting him! I will put up another name list, and please make the proper decision."

Some of the staffs got so pissed off and fought back:

"Well... we never know to attend a lunch is an OFFICIAL matter, we were never told about it, and it never did happen in the history. All these while we were given the choice whether we want, or do not want to attend. Next time, please make it clear."

"Since u said that it was OFFICIAL, then please don't put up the name list before-hand and ask us to choose whether we are going or not."

"What do u mean by SINGLE should put in extra effort to attend? Does it mean that we are so free and we got nothing personal to deal with??"

The conclusion is:

WE WERE ALL BEEN FORCED TO ATTEND THIS SHITTY LUNCH AFTER THE OUTDOOR ACTIVITY, JUST TO PLEASE OUR NEW BOSS, AS HE FELT SO EMBARRASSED BECAUSE NON OF US BOTHER TO FOLLOW HIS WILL!

DAMN U!!! And here's my middle finger!!!
